Member of the Executive Board and Head of Retail Division
He took the position of the Head of the Retail Division in December 2013 after successfully heading the Corporate Division for six years. Before that he was the Head of the Risk Management Department. Darko Popović has been with Banca Intesa since 2003, and in 2005 he actively participated in the project of acquisition of Delta Banka by Banca Intesa. Before joining Banca Intesa, Darko Popović worked for the National Bank of Serbia as bank supervisor. In the period of restructuring of the Serbian banking sector, he took part in supervision and due diligence of 17 banks.
While performing the function of the Head of the Risk Management Department, together with his colleagues, risk managers of major local banks, he formed the Risk Management Committee as part of the Association of Serbian Banks. In 2007 he was elected by his colleagues as chairman of the Committee, which cooperates actively with the National Bank of Serbia in constant improvement of risk management regulations. Since 2014 he is the President of the Board of Directors of Intesa Leasing, the largest leasing company on the market. In 2012 members of the Serbian Association of Managers awarded him in the category of the “Best young manager”. At present he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Economics’ Alumni Club in Belgrade.
He graduated from the Faculty of economy in Belgrade in 2000, banking and finance major. Among numerous professional education courses in the areas of risk management, general management and leadership, the most prominent ones he attended were in London Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and Harvard Business School.
